This position is offered for the Group Savings & Retirement Development team.

To be successful in this role, the incumbent must participate as a high-level technical expert and directly contribute to software design and development. They must work at the technical and/or design level of all phases of application systems analysis and programming activities to understand and resolve problems. The incumbent must establish program scope, efforts and objectives for problem resolutions related to the development of information systems, and develop expertise in specific areas to influence and provide direction for systems development activities. The incumbent is recognized for his expertise and talent in sharing knowledge with other colleagues. The incumbent acts as a reference for colleagues and plays the role of "Tech Lead."

  • Establishes system scope, efforts and objectives in collaboration with end users, architects, the incumbent's own team members and other IT support teams.
  • Works with technical staff to understand software problems and develop specifications to resolve them.
  • Provides advice on solving complex technical problems related to performance and security limitations. Assists project teams in resolving technical problems related to uncommon issues and acts as a reference.
  • Acts as a technical design specialist in the development of computer applications.
  • Develops and carries out proofs of concept for the implementation of innovative solutions.
  • Designs application software by integrating system components, i.e. technological platforms, languages, database management systems, operating constraints, etc., and considering the end-user perspective.
  • Designs online solutions based on business needs and IT architecture strategies and sends information in the form of detailed program specifications.
  • Ensures overall visibility regarding the portfolio of ongoing projects and bonds with project teams concerning technical and conceptual solutions.
  • Assumes a leadership role on one or several projects; able to prioritize and demonstrates good communication skills.


  • University degree in Computer Science with 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication in French and English and strong ability to simplify technical aspects.
  • Excellent knowledge of Application Development Life Cycle (traditional methodologies or Agile).
  • Excellent knowledge of systems development tools and methods.
  • Mastery of different technological environments (Microsoft, Unix).
  • Mastery of Oracle (10g, 11g), particularly with regard to data modelling, security and performance.
  • Mastery of languages and development tools: PL/SQL, Pro*C, Java (J2EE, Spring, Struts, Hibernate, JSF), AJAX, CSS, JavaScript, SOA.
  • Extensive knowledge of N-Tier application design, design patterns.
  • Knowledge of Junit, Fitness, Crystal Reports.
  • Excellent knowledge of existing office automation tools.
  • Basic knowledge of the finance and insurance industry.
  • Knowledge of IBM WebSphere Portal and WCM is an asset.
  • Ability to learn on the fly.
  • Is self-motivated, creative and able to take initiative.
  • Technical learning aptitude.
