Description:

This role contributes to customer satisfaction and Company profitability by providing leadership to a Customer Services department, specifically by scheduling work and resources, setting objectives and measuring results, facilitating teamwork and implementing process improvements.

  • Leads a team of disability professionals to achieve the best possible outcomes for short and long term disability claimants, using a variety of internal and external resources and tools.
  • Communicates customer satisfaction standards to staff and manages in accordance with those standards.
  • Hires, trains, coaches and develops staff.
  • Develops performance plans in conjunction with team members and provides feedback on performance, objectives and the attainment of goals.
  • Promotes and encourages continuous process improvements.
  • Participates as a member of the Team Leader Team to achieve Company objectives.
  • Participates in finalist presentations and in meetings to resolve problems with in-force accounts.
  • Provides leadership and mentoring to direct reports and other Customer Services staff.

REQUIREMENTS

  • University degree.
  • Five years experience in tasks related to settling disability insurance claims in the field of group insurance.
  • Two years of experience managing human resources.
  • Proficiency with mainframe (InClaims) and Microsoft Office software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Knowledge of disability management and disability tools.
  • Medical knowledge.
  • Knowledge of disability products.
  • Knowledge of insurance legislation and various government programs.
  • Proficiency in oral communication.
  • Bilingual (French and English, spoken and written).
