Investment Operations is responsible for the accounting, controls, reporting and custodial services for Standard Life’s investments in debt securities, equities, derivatives, real estate and mortgages assets. Investment Operations is also responsible regulatory compliance and the net asset value calculation of 400 funds.

As a member of the investment accounting team : the Consultant, Investment Controls and accounting must provide specialized professional accounting services, including analysis of financial data and evaluation of controls.   

  • Applies accounting principles and standard practices to the classification and recording of equity, debt, derivatives, mortgage and real estate investments
  • Performs a variety of analytical work, which may include any or all of the following: maintenance of ledgers, account reconciliation, preparation of journal entries, review of trial balances and financial reports
  • Investigates trends and irregularities to identify causes and resolve the most complex issues/situations and performs advanced or specialized work that requires comprehensive knowledge of accounting theory, principles and practices
  • Monitors external trends and developments of financial and accounting processes and practices and reports findings to management in support of management decisions
  • Implements and validates business process and accounting procedure changes to ensure operational objectives and standards are met
  • Provides professional advice and recommends and implements controls to minimize or mitigate identified risks
  • Leads projects to develop and implement new products, systems and tools and tests these to identify any issues. May include training Standard Life employees
  • Develops non-standard reports and statements according to guidelines. May design accounting information systems to facilitate analysis


  • University degree with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge and should have a professional accounting designation or its equivalent
  • Bilingual, French and English, written and spoken
