Senior System Developer, Development Services

To be successful in this role, the Senior Systems developer must develop, test and debug new software, or improvements made to existing software, in line with specifications.  Ensures that results meet expectations.   Works with other members of the team to learn about each application in order to understand and resolve any problems that may arise.  He or she also:

  • Participates in formulating program scope and objectives through research and the analysis of the current situation.
  • Prepares detailed specifications of average complexity based upon which programs will be created or modified, depending on their level of complexity.
  • Implements a set of specifications by coding, compiling and testing the applications.
  • Develops and modifies program documentation for users and Operations.
  • Analyzes and reviews logic problems of average complexity of existing systems and programs and, when required, designs appropriate solutions.
  • Plays an active role with users throughout the testing phase of new or modified applications.
  • Working closely with other IT specialists, actively participates in development, testing and debugging activities.
  • May be called upon to concentrate efforts on testing applications based on conditions.
  • Provides guidance and training to less experienced staff members.
  • Implements technological solutions in line with the Company’s programming and quality assurance standards.
  • Is accountable for delivering quality results.
  • Takes initiative and has a sense of urgency, able to work under pressure and under time constraints.
  • Ability to set up testing environments, libraries, tools and other elements required to perform the duties related to the role.


  • University degree in IT (undergraduate degree or higher), with a minimum of three (3) years of experience in a relevant IT environment.
  • Very good knowledge of the PL/SQL language
  • Knowledge of Java and JSF (Hibernate, Spring, Junit)
  • Knowledge of Web Services
  • Knowledge of MyEclipse Blue
  • Knowledge of automated test tools (Fitness, Selenium, Jasmine)
  • Experience with Agile projects (Scrum, Kanban)
  • Experience with TDD (Test-Driven Development)
  • Ability to set up testing environments, libraries, tools and other elements required to perform the duties related to the role (knowledge of Harvest tools is an asset).  
  • Ability to work in an organizational matrix context.
  • Demonstrates technical leadership skills recognized by peers.
  • Is self-motivated, able to prioritize and accustomed to working under pressure and time constraints.
  • Ability to adapt to new technology.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Access.
  • Good oral and written communication in English and in French.
