Description:

To be successful in this role, the incumbent must be responsible for the maintenance and evolution of WebSphere platform. Sees to the planning and implementation of new installations and/or updates of said environments. Provides leadership and superior knowledge to colleagues and co-workers. Controls, analyses and provides recommendations regarding the optimization of the performance of the environments under their responsibility. Actively participate in the resolution of problems and anomalies that occur within these.

  • Evaluates reviews and provides recommendations with regards to plans and activities brought to their attention.
  • Identifies, documents and automates certain activities in order to improve processes and ensure the better performance of environments under their responsibility.
  • Takes ownership and responsibility for third-level support (analysis and resolution) when major failures occur. Resolves problems and implements permanent solutions.
  • Conducts trend analysis of server performance and provides recommendations.
  • Updates the system documentation and operating diagrams for the environments under their responsibility.
  • Provides members of the department with their superior knowledge and expertise.
  • Is ultimately accountable and responsible for the escalation process when solving system problems with either internal or external parties.

REQUIREMENTS

  • University degree in Computer Science with a minimum of 10 years of experience with relevant technologies.
  • Knowledge: Java/JVM/J2EE spec . must understand  WebSphere structure  ( Cell  , Node and configuration levels) and Portal Directory Structure , Portlal artifacts ( portlets , themes , skins , Access Control , etc .. ).
  • Knowledge of load balancing mechanism ( http Servers / proxies / edge server).
  • Ability to configure minimum WebSphere objects (jdbc , mail , JMS, jndi . etc ) and DB2 for portal.
  • WebSphere and Portal Architecture topologies / security (VMM ) / Portal Access Control.
  • Good understanding of Portal configuration procedures (ConfigEngine).
  • Good understanding of Portal migration procedures (XMLAccess or WPS scripting interface).
  • Good understanding of Portlets specification.
  • Fine tuning of WebSphere objects for performance.
  • Second level diagnostic: (determine problem patterns & correlating all metrics IO/HEAP/CPU).
  • Third level diagnostic: ( explaining problems and present short term and long term solutions ).
  • Defining and implementing Integration processes ( rules and protocols ).
  • Automating administrative tasks & Application qualification.
  • Establishing use and performance metrics for publishing.
  • Third level diagnostic: (explaining problems and present short term and long term solutions.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.
