Senior Advisor, ITC - Automation (QA)

Description:

The incumbent will be in charge of all technological aspects related to tests conducted in the LOB. Has good knowledge of new technologies, systems, environments and automation tools, specialized knowledge in various lines of business, and technological and IT skills. The duties associated with this position primarily involve managing tests with a complex technical component, automation and new technologies (mobile, cloud computing and collaborative media).

  • Defines test strategies and requirements for functional, technological and infrastructure tests. Uses technical expertise to explain the importance and purpose of the new technologies available and how his/her technical choices will help meet the needs of the functional tests related to the project or program.
  • Defines COE/AQ requirements and automation needs.
  • Coordinates all COE/AQ testing activities regarding automation.
  • Defines and implements procedures and methods to be used for test automation.
  • Develops and maintains automation scripts.
  • Acts as a COE expert advisor for the Company for all testing issues that require specific technical expertise.
  • Manages and leads testing activities for a technological project.
  • Promotes the implementation of technological solutions based on Standard Life's business objectives.
  • Collaborates with the Project Manager and Center of Excellence managers to understand project scope, operational needs and technical constraints.
  • Participates in the project-planning phase to required efforts and budgets related to QA/QC activities.
  • Participates in choosing and improving automation tools.
  • Provides mentorship/coaching and training to COE team members and works with the team to define/implement automation practices.
  • Stays abreast of the latest technological developments.

Requirements

  • University degree in Software Engineering or IT, with eight (8) years of relevant experience in IT systems development, system testing management and automation.
  • Mastery of the HP Quality Center tool and QTP.
  • Mastery of automation tools and programming languages.
  • Good knowledge of new technologies (mobile platforms, cloud computing and collaborative media).
  • Knowledge of technological system testing.
  • Experience in developing automated scripts.
  • Quality assurance certification (QAI, ASQ, ISQBT) is considered an asset. 
  • Fluent in French and English (written and spoken).
