Description:

Responsible for all aspects of the functional, non functional and technology tests carried out in a complex program or initiative. He is also responsible of the integration from different components into a viable and testable solution. He/she will coordinate all projects in a program related to verification and validation activities and deliverables. Manages and leads test and quality assurance activities in a large, complex program with different internal and external partners. Has a strong knowledge of IT development life cycle, Quality Assurance best practices and new technologies. Knowledge and experience in different functional and non-functional testing techniques (security, capacity, performance and robustness) and new technology.  This position is mainly involved in the Test integration and Quality Assurance management.

  • Collaborate with the Program Portfolio Managers, Centre of Excellence and external providers to understand the projects scope, Business needs and technical constraints. Participates in the project planning phase to estimate expected efforts and budgets related to QA/QC activities. 
  • Responsible for all aspects of the quality assurance and deliverables at every stage of the project.
  • Develops, carries out and integrates a comprehensive global test strategy for multiple projects and inter-systems. Review test strategies developed within the group.
  • Responsible of the integration from different components into a viable and testable solution.
  • Manages test teams for projects in different LOBs and for interdisciplinary projects with internal/external stakeholders.
  • Mentors and coaches employees and external partners with regard to quality assurance and quality control.
  • Ensures planning, implementation and follow-up of test and quality assurance activities. Manages irregularities and the certification of the delivered solution according to the approved strategy the candidate is responsible for.
  • Acts as an IT quality assurance manager by ensuring  activities with the projects are carried out in accordance with norms, best practices, and regulatory standards (when applicable) based on the customer's and Standard Life's needs.
  • Leads the verification, validation activities for the projects and their execution .
  • Follows the test preparation and execution progression and finds solutions to issues affecting verification activities within the program.
  • Coordinates and executes capacity, performance and robustness testing activities with the IT team.
  • Represent the QA group in the steering committees. Compiles the project verification dashboard and metrics and presents them to the Program Manager and the COE-QA/QC Manager.
  • Certify the compliance of the quality of the technological solution being implemented from different providers/partners.
  • Ensure that all decisions taken with regards to the solution from different projects have been evaluated in terms of risks on Standard Life’s operations.
  • Promotes the implementation of QA technological solutions and best practices in the continuous improvement.
  • Influences quality assurance and certification decisions and objectives and ensures the evolution of policies and practices in these areas.

REQUIREMENTS

  • University degree, with eight (8) years of relevant experience in IT systems development, test integration and quality management.
  • Experience in quality management with different partners and providers.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge and plans to obtain a professional designation (QAI, ASQ, CFTL or ISTQB), which would be considered an asset.
  • Fluent in English and French (written and spoken).
  • Knowledge and experience in different functional and non-functional testing techniques (security, capacity, performance and robustness).
  • Knowledge of verification tools, Quality Assurance methodologies and techniques.
