Senior Analyst, Investment Accounting Controls

Investment Operations is responsible for the accounting, controls, reporting and custodial services for Standard Life’s investments in debt securities, equities, derivatives, real estate and mortgages assets. Investment Operations is also responsible regulatory compliance and the net asset value calculation of 400 funds.

The Senior analyst must provide professional accounting services, including compilation and analysis of financial data and evaluation of controls.

  • Applies accounting principles and standard practices to the classification and recording of financial transactions and performs a variety of analytical work, which may include any or all of the following: maintenance of ledgers, account reconciliation, preparation of journal entries, net asset value computation, investment, mortgage and real estate accounting, banking servicing and preparation of trial balances and financial statements.
  • Analyzes financial information to ensure adherence to standards and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Investigates trends and irregularities to identify causes, resolve issues/situations and, for further complex issues, develop options to be assessed by senior colleagues.
  • Monitors accounting processes or systems, makes recommendations and participates in the planning and implementation of changes to ensure operational objectives and standards are met.
  • Liaises with other departments to review accounting practices and processes.
  • Prepares non-standard reports according to guidelines.
  • Participates in new product and systems development and implementation projects.


  • University degree in accounting or finance combined with an accountant professional designation.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience.
  • Bilingual written and spoken both in French and English.
