Data Analyst, Investment Systems

The Consultant will report to the Senior Team Leader, Investment Operations Systems, within the Investment Operations department of Standard Life Canada. 

The incumbent will be responsible for planning, managing and implementing projects relevant to Data Management, Governance and process Control.  The Consultant will work in collaboration with business stakeholders in order to clearly establish business requirements and deliver on assigned projects.  Key responsibilities include:

  • Examines business problems and identifies potential solutions.
  • Examines Investment Data Relationships and ensures it meets the needs of Business Stakeholders and is aligned with the Data Model.
  • Articulates business challenges and process improvements.
  • Ensures the solutions delivered are tested and documented, add value and meet customer needs and expectations.
  • Builds effective working relationships with business stakeholders, Information Technology and suppliers.
  • Works with the business to clarify processes, identify issues and facilitate change.
  • Identifies the root of business problems and develops strong and rational business cases for change.
  • Prepares detailed process documentation (diagrams and reports).
  • Redesigns, when required, business processes with business partners.
  • Leads projects pertaining to the change of business procedures.
  • Plans and controls the activities of small projects, as necessary.
  • Supports projects and/or teams as required to achieve business objectives.


  • University degree.
  • Minimum 5 years in Finance: experience defining operating models, defining "as is" processes, understanding the drivers for change, designing new processes, validating processes and articulating high-level IT requirements are all desirable.
  • Participation as a key player in data projects.
  • Good understanding of the functions of a back-office/middle-office environment.
  • Experience working in a deadline-driven environment.
  • PMP accreditation is an asset.
  • Bilingual, French and English, written and spoken.
