Specialist, Systems Analyst

To be successful in this role, the incumbent must, under the guidance of a senior team member, formulate and define system scope, efforts and objectives based on business needs and have a good understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements.

  • Integrates, develops and/or modifies complex information systems.
  • Participates in defining project charters.
  • Articulates and documents business processes within the context of each application's process, data and technical architecture.
  • Analyzes complex user and business needs, documents requirements and translates them into system requirement specifications.
  • Prepares business and functional specifications for complex application programs.
  • Prepares technical specifications for application programs.
  • Tests and documents application components.
  • Supports projects and/or teams, as required, to achieve objectives.
  • Contributes to the implementation of new systems, programs and processes.
  • Is accountable for delivering quality results.
  • Acts as a business and functional specialist and provides guidance and training to less experienced staff members
  • Plans and controls the activities of small projects and/or teams, when necessary.
  • Benefits projects and/or teams with their knowledge, experience and technical leadership.
  • Identifies and reports weaknesses and applies controls to mitigate financial and operational risks. Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.


  • University degree in IT (undergraduate degree or higher), with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience as a functional analyst in the insurance or financial industry.  
  • Ability to work in an organizational matrix context and in a project environment.
  • Demonstrates technical leadership skills recognized by peers.
  • Is self-motivated, able to prioritize and accustomed to working under pressure and time constraints.
  • Ability to adapt to new technology.
  • Good oral and written communication in English and in French.
