Description:

The Trading and Settlements team is responsible for the investment administration for our Standard Life Portfolio Managers/Traders. Responsibilities include: Ensuring timely settlements of all market transactions; Processing of all Corporate Actions; Proxy voting for equity securities held in Standard Life Investments managed portfolios; Custodial Services – Standard Life Trust (in-house) and Stock Plan Trading.

This role contributes to the achievement of the Finance Division objectives by ensuring the accuracy and the reliability of the fund accounting records and reports, by servicing clients, Standard Life departments and Standard Life Investments, by providing support to the Administrators, and by evaluating and recommending enhancements for processes, methods and procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Obtains background materials and financial data and provides preliminary analysis and/or reports.
  • Contributes to the development of new tools to accelerate and improve reporting processes.
  • Runs reports and queries for a variety of users.
  • Ensures their own workload is adequately planned and scheduled to meet deadlines and quality standard. Understands the impact of their work on the unit.
  • Investigates trends and irregularities to identify causes, resolve recurring issues/situations and, for more complex issues, develops options to be assessed by their senior colleagues.
  • Participates in some projects as assigned to the development and implementation of new systems and products.
  • Provides timely information to colleagues, clients, auditors and/or regulators. Identifies and resolves problems that require choosing the best option, based on experience.

REQUIREMENTS

  • University degree in Finance or Accounting
  • Relevant experience and knowledge of financial securities and markets
  • Experience in transaction settlements is an asset.
  • CSC, CFA (or in progress of obtaining), an asset
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills
  • Technical abilities
  • Bilingual, French and English, written and spoken
