Senior Team Leader, Accounting

Contributes to the achievement of the Customer Experience business objectives by coordinating, developing and managing the daily activities of a team dedicated to the proper accounting and procedures for our 3 lines of business, Group Savings and Retirement (GS&R), Retail Markets and Group Insurance. Responsible to develop, implement and maintain consistent quality service, process improvements and enhancements, while maximizing the efficient use of resources. Represents CE Operations when dealing with Finance and/or Taxation from an operational point of view in regards to  financial transactions.  Must develop and maintain solid relationships and work in collaboration with the CE management teams.

  • Lead, manage and recruit the team in order to achieve a high level of service.
  • Actively manage performance and develop team members’ competencies according to team and business objectives. Coach and ensure training is provided based on individual need.
  • Monitor team and individual performance. Highlight areas needing improvements and take action to resolve issues and implement solutions.
  • Identify and implement process improvements by creating an environment whereby employees seek to improve processes, productivity and quality. 
  • Support operational teams in solving client related issues involving financial transactions.
  • Ensure General Ledger product-related account balances are monitored and reconciled in a timely manner to protect the integrity of the Company's financial information and assets.
  • Ensure the development of accounting specifications and internal accounting controls for new and existing products and services.
  • Ensure adherence with regulations and compliance; ensure sign-offs are performed and continuous improvements are made to process or as required by Corporate Compliance and/or Internal Audit.
  • Ensure the coordination, monitoring, and control of the billing and collections activities.
  • Participate in accounting control initiatives aimed at improving the quality of our financial data.


  • University degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 8-10 years industry experience, with at least 5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge. Requires a professional accounting designation.
  • Strong knowledge of Control Self Assessment, Audit and Compliance processes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite – advance in Excel.
  • Bilingual, French and English, written and spoken.
