The Consultant, External Communications, reports to the Assistant Vice President, External Communications. Responsibilities include the following:

  • Works closely with the Senior Advisor, Corporate Responsibility and supports the development and implementation of various community involvement initiatives.
  • Participates in the development and the implementation of a communication plan to increase employee participation in Together in the community, the community engagement program for Standard Life employees.
  • Assists with the planning of the “Big Concert”, with the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada, a major charity partner of Standard Life.


  • University degree in Communications or Public Relations
  • 2 years or more years of work experience in communications
  • Bilingualism, French and English (written and spoken) is essential
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including an excellent understanding of Word
  • Excellent priority management and organizational skills
  • Disciplined and thorough
  • Ability to build relationships with new people, both face to face and over the telephone
  • Team spirit and desire to contribute to the achievement of common goals
  • Interest in community engagement
