Description:

The Senior Analyst, Operations Support actively contributes to the daily user support activities related to the management systems of the Group Savings and Retirement (GS&R) line of business. The candidate has knowledge of the organization’s systems and processes and current technology and IT capabilities, and must submit technical ideas and proposals that will help translate business needs into solutions in order to improve the computerized management systems and business processes.

We are seeking a responsible, resourceful and conscientious candidate who will act as an expert business analyst within the LOB operations support team. The candidate must have or develop a good knowledge of the LOB and of how to use the computerized management systems and be willing to improve their skills. They must focus on client satisfaction and demonstrate communication skills that contribute to developing and maintaining positive and constructive interactions with users, their supervisors and our partners on the IT team. They must be able to adapt quickly to problems and unexpected changes. The candidate must also have analytical skills and advanced technical knowledge. They must have good planning skills and be detail-oriented in order to effectively manage the operational duties, such as developing special reports or mini management systems tailored to a specific administrative need that will be assigned to them.

  • Actively participates with the other team members in providing support with regard to the use of the operational systems in accordance with the Line of Business processes.
  • Uses their knowledge to quickly and adequately deal with problems.
  • Develops and produces simple and complex special reports that meet the information needs of clients or any other area in the Company.
  • Compiles a list of business needs and develops mini end-user systems to meet the specific needs expressed by internal clients, when necessary.
  • Carries out the different activities related to processing electronic files received from clients in order to update their personal and financial data in our management systems. May also be called upon to automate certain repetitive and manual processes in certain specific cases.
  • Analyzes the different problems that arise and recommends the implementation of additional system controls or changes to mitigate financial and operational risks related to using the computerized management systems.
  • May be called upon to lead certain aspects of small projects or participate in large, further complex projects (e.g. documenting and executing test plans, collecting and documenting test results) that support specific business plan initiatives, as required.
  • Carries out certain operational mandates or duties (such as generating annual tax slips, updating and correcting unit values, etc.) and ensures they are completed on schedule.
  • Writes up procedures and technical material that can be used to train users or as technical support for the different supported applications and databases.
  • Works closely with the other members of the Business Solutions – Changes team with the interest of the line of business in mind.

REQUIREMENTS

  • University degree in Business Administration, Actuarial Science, Finance or any other related field, with at least 2 years of relevant experience OR Diploma of Collegial Studies (CEGEP) in Business Administration, Finance or any other related field, with at least 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Strong math skills or knowledge of the financial field.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills (French/English).
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
  • Very good knowledge of insurance products, primarily of the group savings and retirement area, is a major asset.
  • Knowledge of the Crystal Report or Business Object report building tools is an asset.
