Disability Case Manager

This role contributes to respecting the Company's commitment to service and profitability by managing non-complex, short- and long-term disability claims. The Disability Case Manager demonstrates a high level of quality service and professionalism to facilitate a successful return to work and minimize the Company's liability and seeks the best possible outcomes for all stakeholders.

  • Determines the Company’s liability by analyzing medical evidence, the claimant’s individual characteristics, contract provisions, government programs and legal jurisprudence.
  • Performs follow-ups as requested by the Disability Management team by contacting the claimant, the client, the physician or provider in writing or by telephone.
  • Makes appointments for independent medical examinations and conveys all relevant information to the claimant as directed by the team.
  • Manages the caseload of total and permanently disabled claimants ensuring timely medical reviews, payment and file referrals where appropriate.
  • Calculates adjustments in cases where the benefits have been modified (RRQ/CPP, SAAQ, CSST/WSIB)
  • Calculates and pays out part-time earnings.
  • Inputs the timesheet data of rehabilitation specialists into the system.
  • Processes payments in accordance with contract provisions and established quality standards.
  • Evaluates and processes requests to waive premiums in cases where the contract does not provide long-term disability coverage.


  • Bachelor degree or College diploma and 5 years of experience.
  • 2 to 3 years experience in the insurance industry is an asset.
  • Product knowledge (group insurance).
  • Proficiency in the use of the MS Office (Excel and Word).
  • Knowledge of disability management.
  • Bilingual, French, English, written & spoken.
