Helping our plan members' return to work


Over the years, Standard Life has developed a wide range of group insurance solutions for various companies across a variety of industries. Sometimes this means supporting their work absences and disabilities by caringly managing their individual situations. Our Health & Absence management team offers a single point of contact to analyze these cases, consult with medical professionals and wellness specialists, and arrange rehabilitation. Every day, they find tailor-made solutions for plan members while being also mindful of minimizing costs and increasing client retention.

You are recognized for your genuine concern and efficiency when communicating with stakeholders. You wisely facilitate the sustainable return to work of absentees at the appropriate time for them while respecting clear contractual obligations. You are skilled at analyzing and developing creative short-term and long-term solutions as well as anticipating new trends in the industry. You are valued by clients as an important partner helping them manage their absences. You can rely on our energetic team to support you while you help employees return to work.

Your contribution:

  • Manage complex claims by determining the Company's liability through analysis of all relevant information (medical evidence, claimant's attributes, contract provisions, government programs and legal jurisprudence).
  • Build strong client relationships via daily contact, client meetings and by offering solutions regarding the health and productivity of their employees.
  • Develop and implement intervention plans that deliver results that impact our profitability and client retention levels.
  • Influences all stakeholders (including attending physician, policyholder and the head of HR), seeking the best outcomes for all parts.
  • Proactively maintain knowledge of tools, policies, processes, products and the business environment.
  • Act as a reference for less experienced employees. May be called upon to help and/or train less experienced employees.

Your background:

  • University degree with a minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience, or a Technical (college) degree with a minimum of eight (8) years of experience.
  • Strong analyzing and problem-solving skills
  • Bilingual, French and English, written and spoken
